Confidentiality and
Mandated Reporting
By law, teens have the right to receive certain health services confidentially. This means that their parents, teachers, friends and partners cannot be told about their choices without written consent.
There are some things that educators, healthcare professionals and other people in positions of trust cannot keep confidential. If one of these professionals hears that a teen is hurting someone or being hurt by someone, that person must file a report with the local Child Protective Services or perhaps the police, in order to get help for the teen.
